TUEsday - 30/09/2014 00:08
Being a mountainous province in the northwest of the country, Dien bien is inhabited by many minority ethnic residents and has a variety of natural conditions and historical relics associated with the history of the nation against foreign invasion. The province has a plenty of favourable advantages for tourism development, especially exploring, cultural and historical tourism. However, global and regional climate change badly affected Dien Bien and caused a number of natural disasters such as heavy rains, landslides, floods, etc. Not only local residents, but also the economy, society and tourism seriously are suffering from the negative natural phenomena.

This paper presents research findings on climate change in Dien Bien, analyzing its impacts on tourism and proposing some solutions to minimize adverse effects of natural disasters relating to the climate change and protect the natural environment and ecological conditions with an aim towards creating favourable conditions for tourism development.
