On the morning of May 10, 2022, Hai Phong City's Department of Science and Technology held a conference to award the Nguyen Binh Khiem Prize and the 2nd City Prize in Science and Technology - 2021.
In 2021, the city selects and honors 5 typical scientific and technological works in the following fields: Medical science, Agro-forestry-fishery science, Technical science, Humanities and Social science. The Nguyen Binh Khiem Prize and the City Award (held every 5 years, from 2017) are an occasion to honor organizations and individuals that have achieved outstanding achievements in science and technology activities, with research projects that has a great impact on the life, economy and society of the city.

Among the works awarded the 2nd City-level Science and Technology Prize, Thuy Nguyen Geography Project (edited by Dr. Doan Truong Son, Hai Phong Historical Science Association) was awarded in the field of Humanities and Social Science. This is a massive work of 1156 pages with 06 main parts, 22 chapters and an Appendix. The first part: consists of 4 chapters, reflecting deeply, highlighting the very specific characteristics of geographical location, position and geology, geomorphology, soil, climate, rivers - hydrology, flora, animal; population, population and labor of Thuy Nguyen district. The first part of Thuy Nguyen Geography has great contributions from scientists from the Institute of Marine Environment and Resources, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology such as Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Thanh; Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Van Quan; MSc. Bui Van Vuong; Dr. Vu Duy Vinh and Dr. Duong Thanh Nghi.
