2. Functions and tasks:
- Investigate and conduct basic research on socio-economic geography and human resources in service of planning, population distribution and territorial organization.
- Assess the impact between economic activities and nature, protect the environment for the rational use of natural resources and the environment.
- Organize the transfer and application of research results to the socio-economic development of the territories.
- Participating in undergraduate and postgraduate training in order to develop human resources.
- Domestic and international research and training cooperation in the field of socio-economic geography and humanities.

The research strengths of the Department of Socio-Economic Geography and Humanities are:
- Geography of economic sectors.
- Population geography and social issues.
4. Postgraduate training:
The Department of Geography, Socio-Economics and Humanities have trained 02 PhDs and 03 Masters.
5. Achievements:
During the past 25 years, the Department of Socio-Economic Geography and Humanities has presided over many national-level projects and published many scientific articles, specifically:
- Led and participated in the implementation of 05 national and ministerial level projects; 06 topics of cooperation with localities;
- Published 20 scientific articles in international and domestic journals.
